Housing Benefit is a means tested social security benefit in the UK that is intended to help people with low incomes and low savings pay for rented accommodation. It is governed by the Housing Benefit (General) Regulations 1987 (as amended), and is administered, along with council tax benefit, by the local authority under whose control a property falls. Albums or video recordings of performances at benefit concerts can provide additional revenue for the charitable cause to which the event is directed. Furthermore, the importance of the cause can lead musicians to put aside long-held grudges. In the UK, child benefit is administered by the Revenue and Customs Child Benefit Office in Washington. As of April 2006, L17.45 per week is paid for the eldest child (including the eldest of a multiple birth) and L11.30 per week is paid for the any other children. A benefit concert is a concert featuring musicians, comedians, or other performers that is held for a charitable purpose, often directed at a specific and immediate humanitarian crisis. Such events raise both funds and public awareness to address the cause at issue. In the United States there is Unemployment Insurance, a federal program, established by the Social Security Act of 1935, and administered by individual states and territories. The reason for leaving your last job must be "lack of work" or a determination of your eligibility for benefits will be issued. The purpose of the benefits are to increase the economic security of employees. Employee benefits in the United States could include relocation assistance, health and dental plans; retirement benefit plans; group-term life and long term care insurance plans, legal assistance plans, adoption assistance, child care benefits and possibly other miscellaneous employee discounts (e.g. movies and theme park tickets, hotels and resorts, and so on). Employee benefits (also called fringe benefits, perquisites, or perks) are various non-wage compensations provided to employees in addition to their normal wages or salaries. Where an employee exchanges (cash) wages for some other form of benefit this is generally referred to as a 'salary sacrifice' arrangement. Benefit fraud is falsely claiming money from the government. Typically, defrauding a government by falsely claiming state help or money. It is the subject of much media frenzy in the UK and Australia. Fringe benefits can include, but are not limited to: group insurance (health, dental, life etc.), income protection, retirement benefits, daycare, tuition reimbursement, sick leave, vacation (paid (esp. teaching) and non-paid), social security, profit sharing, funding of education and other specialized benefits. Normally, employer provided benefits are tax-deductible to the employer and non-taxable to the employee. The exception to the general rule would include executive benefits (e.g. golden handshake and golden parachute plans) which usually exceed the IRS maximum allowed and therefore, the executive would have to pay income tax for the excess amount. Child benefit (or children's allowance) is a social security payment payable given to the parents or guardians of children. Child benefit is means-tested in some countries. Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit is generally only available to those who have permanent right to reside in the UK. If a person who doesn't have permanent right submits a claim, the Home Office may be informed, which could result in deportation.
